A Woman of No Importance (1998)

A rakish English nobleman, Lord Illingworth discovers his protegé is his own illegitimate son, Gerald Arbuthnot, and his desire to nurture the youth's career and lifestyle in his own hedonistic image is resisted summarily by the former mistress, Mrs. Arbuthnot (Dixie Carter), whom he abandoned after their child's birth some twenty years prior to the setting of the play.

At the point when she is called upon to divulge her secret...and later in her final confrontation with Lord Illingworth, Ms. Carter shows powerful control and acting range in revealing her character's noble, sacrificial facets with a dignity that is quite touching. ~Richard Gist
