Desperate Housewives (2006-2007)

A primetime soap with a contemporary take on the "happily ever after," this series takes a darkly comedic look at suburbia, where the secret lives of housewives aren't always what they seem.

Dixie comes on the scene as Orson (Kyle Machlachlan) Hodge's mother, Gloria, and immediately proves herself a difficult and disruptive entity. She and Orson do not get along. Not at all. Series creator Marc Cherry, who had been Dixie's personal assistant during her Designing Women days, requested she "de-glam" for the role, wearing a grey wig and carrying a cane as a reminder of her character's recent (mysterious) accident.
