A Texas mechanic told police that he mistook his mother-in-law for a large raccoon when he hacked her to death in her garage last April. Orville Wyatt Lloyd, thirty-three, of Dallas, told police that when he realized it was his wife's mother, Margaret K. Wise, forty-nine, he hit her again.

In a further statement Lloyd said he hit his mother-in-law in self defense after they argued while searching for the raccoon.
